2020-09-05: The Alamo Vista Trail ends on Tesuque Peak at 12,000 feet
The Santa Fe River has its source in Santa Fe Lake, below Tesuque Peak and Lake Peak. From there the river follows a deep valley (shown here) which crosses the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in a south-west direction until it reaches the Rio Grande valley. Looking south from Tesuque Peak a series of mountain ranges are visible which form the end of both the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the Rocky Mountains.
