2019-07-23: Lopez family chapel, Cerro Gordo, Santa Fe
Cerro Gordo is an old street which follows the Santa Fe River on the eastern side of the city. La Capilla de San Ysidro Labrador was built on Cerro Gordo in the 1930s by Don Lorenzo Lopez, the head of a famous artist family. The Capilla continues to be the private chapel of the Lopez family. The Capilla dominates Cerro Gordo and is not open to the public. A small sanctuary was built below it, next to the road and dedicated to the Virgin Mary, which is the subject of on-going devotion from neighbors and passers-by.
